The Exploration & Production business began in Asia Pacific over a century ago, back in the 1890s, when the first wells were drilled by Shell in Sumatra and Borneo. Recent discoveries in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam provide an aggressive expansion to our portfolio in the region.

Shell Exploration & Production Asia Pacific operates in seven countries - Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Philippines, New Zealand, Australia and Singapore.

We currently have positions available in Miri, Malaysia.

Responsibilities:

You’ll review technical input submitted to ensure project robustness, do-ability and meet economic screening criteria, providing technical recommendations when required. You’ll ensure timely submission of project proposals to be considered for the capital allocation exercise, technical review/peer assist and Value Assurance Review process (VAR). You will lead a multi-discipline team in technical evaluation in support of NBD deal-making negotiation. You’ll carry out the following tasks, either independently and/or jointly with team members of complementary skills with good health, safety and environment awareness:

  • To coordinate, quality control and manage sub-surface and surface data in a corporate database;
  • Plan, co-ordinate and perform development and geological studies to establish reservoir characterisation processes;
  • Evaluate core and log data to support reservoir geological studies;
  • Build multiple scenario static reservoir models in line with available seismic, core and production data in multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Plan, coordinate and/or contribute to writing field development plans accounting for subsurface uncertainties;
  • Co-ordinate and/or contribute to writing of well proposals, annual updates of reserves accounting, asset reference plans and the country business plan;
  • Liaise and communicate with technical professionals and business partners to secure approval for operations and field development plans;
  • Liaise with Shell International EP and/or contractors on technical matters and identify technology requirement for the benefit of joint venture;
  • Train and coach less experienced staff.

In addition to the tasks outlined in this job description, you may be assigned to other responsibilities as a Senior Production Geologist.

Requirements:

  • You must possess at least a bachelor's degree, post-graduate diploma or professional degree in geology;
  • At least seven years’ working experience in a related field;
  • Preferably specialising in geological engineering or equivalent;
  • Full-time position available.
